THE EVOLUTION OF ELLINGTON by MICHAEL BROCKMAN
Beginning as a teenager playing ragtime piano, Duke Ellington evolved into one of the greatest composers and band leaders America has ever produced. He perfected his craft through the creation of music for his bands as they grew in size and succeeded in his vision to be unique in the field of jazz. This illustrated lecture by Michael Brockman, Artistic Director of the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, explores the steps of his career as he grew to be a genuine treasure of American culture.
