Songs of Black Folk Symphony & Choir Present a Juneteenth Celebration

Celebrating the music of resistance and hope, Songs of Black Folk honors a powerful musical tradition that began on the African continent and—through the harrowing journey of slave ships and the daily suffering expressed in spirituals—gave rise to America's rich musical legacy: blues, jazz, gospel, rock, R&B, funk, hip-hop, and spoken word.

Soon to be featured at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, this event combines world-class symphonic firepower with soaring choral and operatic splendor. Highlighted by the legendary tap dancer, choreographer, and actor Savion Glover, “a combination of Carnegie Hall virtuosity with Apollo Theater excitement!”
