Seattle Center Festál: Seattle Hmong New Year 2025
Celebrate the close of harvest season and the spirit of renewal at Seattle Hmong New Year on Saturday, November 8 at the Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall. The free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity for anyone to participate in the most important annual gathering for the Hmong community, and to experience ancient traditions that give thanks to ancestors, honor elders, and welcome a fresh start for the upcoming year.
Join us for a full day of Hmong heritage through food, music, art, dance, and more. Traditionally taking place at the end of harvest season, Hmong New Year is the biggest and most important celebration in Hmong culture, calling forth a new year filled with blessings.
There will be exciting activities for the whole family throughout the day, including an extensive Hmong heritage exhibit of artifacts, embroidery design, and more in partnership with the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture.
There will also be Fashion of the Hmong Diaspora: intricate textile clothing showcasing unique styles and history. Children will also find plenty of activities designed for them.
Entertainment is a big highlight of the festival from morning until late in the evening! During the day, enjoy traditional dances and songs by local performers, and a Pov Pob - a traditional ball-tossing courtship ritual. In the evening, you can attend a joyous concert by local performers. Finally, make sure to take your time at the annual vendor marketplace, filled with arts, crafts, clothing, embroidery, and featuring traditional Hmong cuisine.
Seattle Hmong New Year is part of Seattle Center Festál, a year-round series of 25 free cultural festivals. Learn more about Festál (seattlecenter.com/festal).
