Seattle Center Festál: Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival - May 31-June 1
Discover Philippine culture, arts, and history at Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival, May 31-June 1 at the Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall. This free two-day festival is your opportunity to learn about the anniversary of Philippine Independence and the diversity of cultural heritage within the larger Filipino community.
Throughout each day, you can participate in a broad range of Philippine artistic exhibits focused on film, literature, photography, art, food, and historical artifacts. Come to the Armory stage every hour to watch student dance troupes, local dance ensembles, instructors, and singers reenact unique folklore performances and tribal presentations. Filipino food trucks and food booths will be located outside the Armory building, so try as many dishes as you can during both days! This year, the festival will also feature two workshops engaging in tribal tattoos and examining ancient scriptures.
The Filipino Cultural Heritage Society of Washington (FCHSW) is a non-profit organization that proudly presents Pagdiriwang in partnership with Seattle Center. In 1998, the festival and Filipinos worldwide celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence, and in 2011, the festival celebrated its 25 th anniversary.
Held on the first weekend of June at Seattle Center since 1987, Pagdiriwang has grown into the largest festival of Filipino arts and culture in the Pacific Northwest. Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival is part of Seattle Center Festál, a year-round series of 25 free cultural festivals.
