OtE: 2nd International Latine/X Performance Art Festival

Background on OtE: 2ND International Latinx Performance Art Festival:
Hello, my name is Xavier Lopez, I am the Director of/and one of nine performers in On the Edge: The 2nd International Latine/X Performance Art Festival, working alongside Lauren Davis, the Folks at La Sala , CoCA (Center on Contemporary Art,) 4Culture and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and other LGBTQIA+ arts organizations. Our festival is fast approaching and will be held this October 5th-7th, during Seattle’s first Thursday Artwalk in Pioneer Square at the Seattle Office of Art & Culture’s Arts at King Street Station. We hope that you will find our event interesting enough to share it with your community. If you would like to speak to me for about the event—via Gmail at xavierlopezjr@gmail.com. I thank you for any help you can give to get the word out as Latine/x performance in the Pacific Northwest is a major underdog and we could use any help you can offer!
To give you some background information, La Sala, Lauren Davis, and I created a wonderful event way back in 2016 called On the Edge, which featured three experimental performance artists. It went on to some acclaim (and was written about in Marvin Carlson’s international textbook entitled Performance: A Critical Introduction, where they said that our first event was the first Latinx Performance Art Festival—ever,) we then planned a second event, to be held at King Street Station with support from The Office of Arts & Culture and 4Culture, for 2020. And then the pandemic happened... now finally, in 2023, this 3-day festival is Actually happening, and we hope that everyone will join us on October 5th, 6th and 7th.
Nine performance artists who identify as Latine/x/Pan-American will be showcasing a very wide range of what contemporary performance art and specifically Latinx performance art can be. We are especially overjoyed to be joined by New York Performance Artist Katherine Adamenko (our headlining performer), Mexico’s Vicente Montañez—Vicente was present at the first event, just as was the enigmatically entertaining Santiago, as we as myself—rounding out the original three—who are all back for this event. Joining us are Seattle’s own Sony Voodoo, Tatiana Garmandia, Dyhana Garcia of DAIPAN Butoh, Latinx Goth DJName and many others!

On the Edge (OtE): International Performance Art Festival will be held on October 5th-7th, during Seattle’s first Thursday Artwalk in Pioneer Square at the Seattle Office of Art & Culture’s Arts at King Street Station. The event marks the second showcase with a full-range of performance and media-film work (and even a Latinx Goth Deejay) by Latinx creatives from across the country.

The approximate schedule is:
Thursday, October 5 (First Thursday): 4-7:30pm
Friday, October 6: Artist talks/panel discussion day, 1-4pm
Saturday, October 7: Festival performance day, 11-4pm
