Feminists respond to the assaults on working women and poor people
The longest federal government shutdown in history denied over 40 million access to food and paychecks to federal workers which especially impact women and people of color. Elected officials weaponized hunger by withholding funds from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). These federal programs provide food to many vulnerable people including children, disabled, and the elderly. Trump’s administration demanded states “undo” full payments. Discuss why this happening now, what community members have been doing to help and what more can be done to continue organizing. Also, hear updates on Radical Women activities. Everyone welcome.
