OPENING NIGHT FILM & PARTY
MAY 9, 2024 · 7:00 PM · PARAMOUNT THEATRE
Josh Margolin's action comedy Thelma will open the 50th Seattle International Film Festival on May 9! Oscar® nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) stars as the titular 93-year-old character who, when she is scammed out of $10,000, embarks on a daring mission across Los Angeles to recover her money by any means necessary. Featuring one of Richard Roundtree’s final performances. Writer/Director Josh Margolin will be in attendance for a Q&A, along with producers Zoë Worth and Chris Kaye, and Tribute recipient June Squibb.

A Tribute Event honoring June Squibb including a conversation moderated by Variety's Jenelle Riley and questions from the audience will be held Saturday, May 11 at SIFF Cinema Downtown, preceded by an Honoree Brunch with Squibb at Palace Kitchen. Squibb will be honored with the 2024 Golden Space Needle Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cinema.

The cINeDIGENOUS program will screen films throughout the Festival, amplifying Indigenous filmmakers from across the globe. The program has a total of 11 features and 1 short film package in this year’s Festival.
