Sports with Art Thiel

Covering all the major professional sports teams in Seattle as well as the University of Washington and Washington State University. Kirsten and Art also talk about the business of sports, such as the proposal to build a new arena in Seattle. Other issues they've discussed include head injuries in sports and the crackdown on domestic violence.

Thiel offers a unique and informed perspective to KNKX listeners. His philosophy for his commentary on KNKX is to give the casual sports fan "enough information to be interesting at a party."

It looks like the league is going to set a record this year for the number of home runs hit in a season. Edgar Martinez, the beloved designated hitter who spent his entire career with the Seattle Mariners, will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend.

Reign FC and U.S. women's national team star Megan Rapinoe is standing by her comment that she would not go to the White House and meet with President Trump, if the defending champions win the World Cup again.

They're one step closer to that goal after Friday's 2-1 win over France in the quarterfinals, which saw Rapinoe scoring both U.S. goals like she did against Spain earlier in the week.

The Seahawks have announced they've added men to their dance team — changing the name from the Sea Gals to the Seahawks Dancers. Eight male dancers have joined 30 women for the 2019 season. The Seahawks are one of only a few NFL teams to include men on their dance squads.
