Members from Seattle’s Native American community rallied before a school board meeting last week to demand the reestablishment of a school that had an emphasis on American Indian culture.

Preston Singletary is an internationally recognized blown-glass artist who lives and works in Seattle. He uses his art to share the traditions of his Tlingit culture. But over the last few years he’s been working on another project as a way to communicate those Native traditions. Only this time, it’s with music.

 


The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of the Interior Monday announced a $492 million settlement with a number of tribes. It ends decades-long disputes between the tribes and the federal government over land management.
