Alan White, the longtime drummer for progressive rock pioneers Yes who also played on projects with John Lennon and George Harrison, has died. He was 72. White’s death was announced on his Facebook page by his family. The post said he died at his Seattle-area home on Thursday after a brief illness.

Groundbreaking Seattle legislator and college football star George Fleming has died at age 83. Fleming was first elected to the state House in 1968 and two years later was elected to the state Senate, becoming its second African American member.

Jose Garcia, 50, was one of the few fatalities from the flood. Garcia was married with four children: three daughters and a son. His children describe him as a loving and hardworking man who did whatever he could to put a smile on their faces. “I just got to stick by my mom’s side,” said Garcia’s son, Luis Garcia, 24. “She’s really hurting. She lost her other half.”
