Victoria invites its residents and visitors to remember the remarkable Emily Carr in a city-wide collaborative celebration of the artist’s unique life and work through presentations of music, history and art.
This Saturday at 8 p.m., the Victoria Symphony will present the “Emily Carr Project,” a concert performance to explore Emily Carr’s painting, poetry and connection to the people of the First Nations.
The concert will include the world premier performance of several new works by Canadian composers and feature video presentations of Emily Carr’s artwork. 'The other Emily'
The Royal British Columbia Museum has extended its Emily Carr exhibit until Oct. 16.
“The Other Emily” seeks to redefine the Canadian artist through an exploration of the artist’s life before she became famous, from her teenage years to just before her emergence on the national art scene in 1927. The exhibition is included with normal admission ticket prices.
The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria also celebrates Emily Carr with an exhibit, “On the Edge of Nowhere.” Dedicated to learning about Emily Carr through her paintings, this exhibit is on now through June 30, 2013. The exhibit presents a historical survey of Carr’s artistic career. The exhibition is included with normal admission ticket prices.
