So Many Wines, So Little Time

Nancy Leson
Just a few of the 90 wineries ripe for the tasting in Woodinville. You'll find these in the city's industrial Warehouse district.

That little old wine drinker Nancy Leson found herself in oenophile heaven recently.  She joined fellow journalists as  guests of the Washington Wine Commission at wineries in Woodinville and Seattle as part of events surrounding the Auction of Washington Wines

With over 850 wineries in Washington State and 350 grape growers producing 40 different varietals in 13 AVAs (American Vitacultural Areas) Nance points out that wine tasting pilgrimages to Napa or  Walla Walla are ancient history.

Seattle's wine scene is thriving and growing.  Especially now with the entry of the largest urban winery on the West Coast, Charles Smith's Jet City Winery.  Jerry Lee Lewis punished the piano at the Grand Opening.  We can only hope The Killer sang his Drinkin' Wine Spo-dee-o-do.

At Lauren Ashton Cellars in Woodinville's Hollywood Winery district. Yes, Nancy tasted them all and then some.

Worried about all that red wine staining your teeth?   Lauren Ashton Cellars winemaker and dentist Kit Singh says wait two hours after drinking, then brush with a little baking soda.

" I cook with wine.  Sometimes I even add it to the food."  – W.C. Fields
