School of Jazz: Cade Sando serves as guest DJ

Courtesy of Cade Sando

Saxophonist Cade Sando from Cascade Christian High School in Puyallup will join Abe Beeson as virtual guest DJ tonight (May 6) on Evening Jazz. He is a sophomore and in the school's jazz band. Cade plays alto and soprano saxophone, although he prefers soprano when it comes to jazz.

Which instrument do you play and why?
Saxophone because in fifth grade, my brother played it, and we wouldn’t have to buy a new instrument.

What’s your all-time favorite jazz piece?
"Watermelon Man" by Herbie Hancock.

Who is your jazz hero?
John Coltrane.

Why jazz?
I was invited to join jazz band and quickly fell in love with it. I love improvisation and fast bebop solos.
