Two musicians in a room invites interaction, introspection and interplay. Such is the case in an intimate duo recorded in a quiet room in a private home in Vancouver, B.C. last December. Edmonton alto saxophonist and bi-coastal pianist Bill Mays recorded this CD after playing four concerts last December. We'll hear them play two songs on this episode of Jazz Northwest.
Also on this week's show are recent releases by Jay Thomas, Greta Matassa, Xavier Lecouturier, Cory Weeds and others, and an excerpt from a 1966 live radio show featuring the Jack Wilson Quartet with Roy Ayers at The Penthouse in Seattle. Best bets for live jazz in Seattle also are included.
Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by host Jim Wilke and airs Sundays at 2 p.m. Listeners may also subscribe to the podcast at KNKX, NPR, Apple, Google or Spotify.
