Keep those layers and light parkas handy. The weather this weekend in the Pacific Northwest offers a normal mix of cloudy skies, drizzle and temperatures ranging from early morning lows in the 50s to highs as warm as mid 70s next week.
KNKX weather expert Cliff Mass says there was a weak cold front coming in off the coast, cooling things down early Friday.
“There’s a little bit of sun right now, but there’ll be a lot of clouds as well,” Mass said of Friday’s forecast, predicting temps in the low 70s.
“So, not bad after the cold front goes through,” Mass said. “Eastern Washington will be great – so go there if you want real dry conditions.”
Saturday: Partly To Mostly Cloudy
He says Saturday will start out cloudy, with a lot of those low clouds hanging around in the morning, but then they’ll burn off, yielding to partly cloudy skies.
“So I think tomorrow [Saturday] will be a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy day … particularly the first part of the day. And temperatures are not going to zoom up anywhere high – probably into the lower 60s, maybe mid-60s at the highest,” Mass said.
“So lots of clouds, a few sun breaks, there could be a few sprinkles, particularly in the mountains.
“So, very typical day for June,” he said, adding that the highs this time of the month are generally only in the mid-60s.
”So, you’re getting what we should get,” he said.
Sunday: Cloudy Again
Mass says Sunday will be pretty similar, with lots of clouds.
“I don’t think there will be a lot of rain, Mass said. “But it’ll be generally cloudy – with temperatures in the mid-60s.”
“And this is because a trough of low pressure will be off the coast, elongating down to California. Most of the flow – most of the action will go into California. But there’ll be enough uplift to keep quite a few clouds here on Sunday," Mass said.
MONDAY: Transition Day To Spell Of Blue Skies And Pleasant Temps
Mass says it only looks up at the start of the workweek as the weather transitions to classic Seattle summer sun, with clearer weather and pleasant temps, likely starting a spell of several days in the 70s.
“Tuesday and Wednesday should be extremely nice,” Mass said.
“Temperatures zooming up into the 70s, which is above normal for this time of the year. Plenty of sun, dry conditions," he said. "So Tuesday, Wednesday look great. And then unfortunately it looks like another front comes in on Thursday, but that’s a little bit far for me to have a lot of confidence in it.”
