Oregon Featured On Jazz Northwest

/
KNKX

Having just returned from a week vacationing in Oregon from Astoria to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival, we were reminded again of the state's beauty, and that brought memories of that quintessential Northwest musical group Oregon formed in 1970 by Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, Glenn Moore and Collin Walcott.  That's as good an excuse as any to play a couple of their songs on this show.

Also this week, the Keith Henson Octet, Mark Taylor, and a couple of new artists appearing for the first time at Jazz Port Townsend this year, Katie Thiroux and Jazzmeia Horn.  Best bets for live jazz in the coming week are also highlighted.

Jazz Northwest airs Sundays at 2 PM Pacific and streams at knkx.org.  The program is produced by host Jim Wilke and is available for streaming after broadcast at jazznw.org

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
