This week's show features several recent releases including Ingrid Jensen and Steve Treseler playing music by the late Canadian composer Kenny Wheeler in performance at the Royal Room in Seattle, and two recent recordings by Jay Thomas with Oliver Groenewald Newnet, and with Michael Van Bebber in a quintet.

Also this week, pianist Randy Halberstadt plays his adaptation of a Chopin Nocturne and we'll hear a sublime version of Leonard Bernstein's "Somewhere" played by Cannonball Adderley from a 1967 gig at The Penthouse in Seattle, recently issued for the first time.

Jazz Northwest airs every Sunday afternoon at 2 PM Pacific on KNKX, simultaneously streaming at KNKX.org.  The program is recorded and produced by host Jim Wilke and is available after broadcast as a podcast or on demand at JazzNW.org

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
