KNKX Student DJ Ben McCall

ABE BEESON/KNKX

Eighteen year-old Ben McCall, who recently graduated Stadium High School is KNKX’s guest DJ on August 2 from 8-9pm on Evening Jazz. He will be attending Gonzaga University in the Fall.

Which instrument do you play and why?

I play the trombone, drums and piano because music is my passion and I feel that the more
I know about it (the more instruments I play), the better I am as a whole.

What’s your all-time favorite jazz piece?
There are so many, but my favorite jazz song is Armando’s Rhumba by Chick Corea.

Who is your jazz hero?

Louis Armstrong.

Why jazz?

Freedom of expression through music, not limited to what's on the paper.
