Cokie Roberts died Tuesday, at the age of 75. Professionally, she was an inspiration to many journalists. Not many of us in the KNKX newsroom met her. But Erin Hennessey did, in 2005, when Cokie came to Seattle for an event at Virginia Mason.

Erin took that opportunity to interview Cokie about her family life. Many families these days are a mix of different faiths. That was true for Cokie, and it’s true for Erin: a Catholic wife, and a Jewish husband.

In the book, “From This Day Forward,” Cokie and her husband, Steve, wrote about raising their children in a two-faith household, celebrating holidays from both faiths. In their interview, Cokie told Erin why she thinks it’s important for mixed marriages to honor both traditions.
