Jazz Port Townsend Preview On Jazz Northwest, Sunday July 12

Jazz Port Townsend is the oldest and largest jazz festival in the Pacific Northwest... it celebrated its 40th year last year.

For the 2015 edition on the last weekend of July, there will be seven concerts on the main stage at  the 1200 seat McCurdy Pavilion at Fort Worden State Park, and over a dozen performances in cozy small venues in downtown Port Townsend.

A preview of the festival aired on Jazz Northwest on Sunday (7/12) featuring some of the performers who'll be appearing this year: Bob Mintzer, Terell Stafford (pictured) Eric Reed, Steve Wilson, Trio da Paz, Sean Jones and the Clayton Brothers.  Jazz Northwest will again be recording at the festival for future broadcasts beginning in mid-August.

Jazz Northwest airs Sundays at 2 PM Pacific on 88.5 KPLU and streams at kplu.org. The program is recorded and produced  by Jim Wilke exclusively for KPLU.  Podcasts are available at kplu.org after the broadcast.

Next week (7/19) - the Anton Schwartz Quintet with Thomas Marriott and Russell Ferrante, recorded in performance at Tula's in Seattle.
