Last week, Jazz Northwest shared some favorite jazz CDs from the past year. These are some we regarded as standouts, and we'll go back to again and again.

Included are great collaborations and arrangements with Oliver Groenewald and Jay Thomas, Portland trumpet player Charlie Porter, Seattle pianist Randy Halberstadt, the duo of Hans Teuber and Jeff Johnson, Johnaye Kendrick, Ingrid Jensen, and Steve Treseler playing music by Kenny Wheeler, and others.

There's also a blast from the past with Cannonball Adderley playing at The Penthouse in Seattle in the '60s just issued this year for the first time.

Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by host Jim Wilke, airing Sundays at 2 p.m. on KNKX and streaming at KNKX.org. After broadcast, a podcast is available at JazzNW.org.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
