The nude cyclists at Seattle’s Fremont parade can look forward to comfortable summer temperatures on Saturday afternoon. And it might even be a bit too hot for runners at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, says KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.
A weak front has passed through, says Mass, and the clouds and sprinkles are expected to subside in time for the summer solstice Saturday.
‘A Blah Day’ To Kick Off The Weekend
Mass says Friday will be mainly cloudy, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s and the sun peeking through the clouds in some places.
“So kind of a blah day; no rain, no thunderstorms,” Mass said. “Not an exciting forecast for this weekend.”
Saturday Looking Good For Nude Cyclists, Not So Good For Runners
Come Saturday, a ridge will move in, says Mass, bringing summer weather with it.
“So you’ll see improvement from Saturday into Sunday,” he said.
Morning clouds will burn off quickly as temperatures climb into the lower 70s — “which, of course, is really good, because there’s the Fremont Parade and some people won’t be wearing any clothes,” Mass said.
And he says it will happen fast enough that some runners in the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon might even find it a bit too warm.
“Because runners like that cooler weather, ” Mass said.
Sunday To Be ‘Really Nice, Just Like Mid-Summer'
The ridge will really take hold Sunday, with temperatures getting into the upper 70s.
“It’s going to be a sunny, warm day. Really nice, just like mid-summer,” he said.
And Monday will bring more of the same.
“The first sign of anything going downhill is on Tuesday, when a weak front will come through,” Mass said, predicting clouds and a few sprinkles. “But nothing serious. So, all in all, a really nice weather situation for this weekend.”
