Calls for information in decade-old federal prosecutor murder case

It's been 10 years since federal prosecutor Tom Wales was shot dead in the basement of his Seattle home. The case has never been solved. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was in Seattle Wednesday to bring fresh attention to the cold case.

At a news conference, Holder asked anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward. Wales' daughter, Amy, also read a lengthy statement.

"To the person or persons who killed my father, you tore him violently from this earth with egregious spite and hubris, but I am not afraid of you. You do not intimidate me," Wales said. "If we ever should meet you will know me by my strength and my commitment to the life force that lives on in my hands and in my heart.”

The FBI's renewed effort to solve the Tom Wales murder will include newspaper ads, billboards, radio and TV commercials and social media. There’s also a new web page dedicated to the case . There remains a $1 million reward in the case.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan in Seattle made this direct plea: "It was one month after the 9/11 attacks. Think back, remember what you saw, heard or knew and use the FBI tipline."
