Jared Mills is a Seattle librarian who pedals some 100 books around town in an aluminum trailer as part of the “Books on Bikes” program.
Except he no longer owns a bike.
Mills’ bike was stolen just few days after a KPLU story highlighted the Seattle Public Library’s two-wheeled project. Mills said someone broke into his yard and sawed through the lock.
Mills said he will have to get a loaner bike to continue participate in the Books on Bikes Program, which sends librarians and their bicycles to popular community events around Seattle.
"Unfair on so many levels," Seattle Public Library tweeted on Thursday. "And Jared has places to go, books to deliver!"
Anyone with information on Mills' bike's whereabouts is urged to contact the Seattle Public Library.
