Art Lande Quartet Reunion At Earshot Festival

Tim Coleman
Art Lande, Dean Johnson, Dave Coleman, & Dave Peterson at Cornish College

Jazz Northwest, Sunday, February 7 at 2 p.m. Pacific on 88.5 KPLU, simultaneous streaming at kplu.org .

The quartet of musical friends reassembled on the stage of Poncho Theatre at Cornish on Capitol Hill and played mostly compositions by pianist Art Lande and guitarist Dave Peterson.

Art Lande has made his home in Boulder, Colorado for many years, bassist Dean Johnson has long been a mainstay on the New York jazz scene, and they were back in Seattle again with guitarist Dave Peterson and drummer Dave Coleman.

This was not a nostalgic retracing of steps, but fresh original music and spontaneous interaction for this reunion quartet, back together again after many years and having fun playing as a group.

Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5 KPLU and kplu.org.  The program airs Sundays at 2 PM Pacific and is also available as a streaming podcast at jazznw.org after the broadcast.  Next week (2/14) will feature an all-star septet from last Summer's Jazz Port Townsend at the Saturday night finale. Sit Down, Hang On features Bob Mintzer, Dayna Stephens, Sean Jones, Terell Stafford, Benny Green, John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton.
