The National Weather Service says Friday should be the last day of the heat wave in Washington.
An excessive heat warning is in effect until 11 p.m. for Western Washington from Everett through the southwest corner of the state where forecasters expect highs in the 90s.
Highs in the 90s also are forecast for most of Eastern Washington and there's a red flag warning for a high wildfire danger on the east side of the Cascades, including the Wenatchee, Ellensburg and Yakima areas.
The Weather Service says it will be cooler on the coast Friday and an onshore flow should bring cooler temperatures to Western Washington over the weekend.
Forecasters say the heat will continue Saturday in Eastern Washington, but temperatures should cool into early next week.
