We have an exciting change to announce about our very own Abe Beeson. After a 20-year run hosting Evening Jazz, Abe will step down from hosting the show in order to dive into a new full-time role at KNKX that will deepen our jazz coverage.

Starting July 1, Abe will write jazz-related stories and review music on our website, he will bring the stories behind the music to life on air, and he will be able to spend more time in the community connecting to our devoted jazz fans.

Fans of Abe’s weekly show, The New Cool, can rest easy. The new position allows Abe to stay at the helm of that show, keeping him at the forefront of new sounds in jazz and beyond. Of the new role, Abe said he was excited to have more time to spend on important KNKX music projects, such as Studio Sessions and School of Jazz, to help connect listeners to the music and the artists who make it.

This new role will help our devoted jazz fans gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world of jazz. This is just one of the ways KNKX is living up to the promise we made to the community in 2016 when we gained our independence: jazz is part of our station’s DNA and, as we grow, we are committed to expanding our jazz offerings.

Be sure to email Abe at abe@knkx.org to thank him for his years hosting Evening Jazz and congratulate him on his new role.
