Tuesday, Oct. 24, is the third anniversary of the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. A student gunman killed four of his friends and seriously wounded a fifth before taking his own life in 2014.

This year’s anniversary comes a little over three weeks after the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

For Kristina Anderson of Seattle, remembering tragedies like these is painful. She was seriously wounded in the shooting at Virginia Tech 10 years ago. A gunman killed 32 people and wounded 17 others before turning the gun on himself.

There are a lot of opinions about what projects should get a green light at the Port of Tacoma. In the last few years there’s been more of a push to move away from the traditional industries like mines and fossil fuels to more environmentally-conscious plans. But not everyone is in agreement.

The announcement does leave an opening for Congress to act. But it also means thousands of immigrants in Washington state could lose their legal status.

The fast ferry between Bremerton and Seattle has been up and running since July. It cuts travel time between the two in half. The quicker commute could entice some Seattle residents to head west with hopes of finding more affordable housing.

But is that really the case? 88.5’s Kirsten Kendrick spoke with Kitsap Sun business reporter Tad Sooter to find out.

The Seahawks beat the Minnesota Vikings 20-13 Friday night in their second preseason game. For the second game in a row, defensive end Michael Bennett sat during the national anthem. This time, his teammate Justin Britt stood beside him with his hand on Bennett's shoulder.

Clear The Air

Thiel said it was about time the media and fans heard from Sherman. He held a press conference Wednesday after Seahawks minicamp.

"I think the Seahawks wanted Richard to address the local media. He said he wanted to clear the air.

"Because by the end of last season he wasn't speaking to anyone, which is very uncharacteristic. He was voted the previous year as the media good guy because he's very comfortable in front of crowds; he enjoys the banter.
