For many people, there is at least one movie that hit them like a bolt of lightning. Some might even have paid to see that movie in the theater--again and again and again.

That's what happened to Seattle actor and writer Barbi Beckett when she was 16 years old, growing up in El Paso, Texas. The movie that rocked her suburban world was Amadeus.

“It was absolutely an escape and an immersion into something rich and decadent. I went probably two to three times a week for some weeks. So, I saw it easily more than 10 times,” Barbi recalls.

The 1984 movie was about the (probably fictional) relationship between two real composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri.

In this story, hear how Barbi briefly lived in another world through the silver screen, and how she took a bold step to bridge the gap between this imaginary place and her real world in El Paso.
