"Sound Effect" is your weekly tour of ideas, inspired by the place we live. The show is hosted by KPLU's Gabriel Spitzer. For this episode, Sound Effect is highlighting the exceptional contributions from the newsroom.

We begin with a story from KPLU’s Jennifer Wing about the male birth control that almost was. Then we level up with Ashley Gross into a story about a Northwest couple who found accidental fame as video game voices.

KPLU’s Paula Wissel introduces us to some of the minds behind the 1960s anti-war newspaper, Fed Up! and Bellamy Pailthorp takes us up into the trees for a sky-high and up-close view of arborists.

"All Things Considered" host Ed Ronco goes to a drag show with Brian Peters aka Mama Tits and learns about what it is like to go viral as a gay rights champion.
