Latitude Adjustment Concert From Jazz Port Townsend

For over 40 years, Jazz Port Townsend has provided opportunities for unique combinations of musicians who don't normally play together to form special ensembles that both challenge and delight the musicians and their audiences.  Pianist George Cables, alto saxophonist Steve Wilson, and guitarist Romero Lubambo played such a concert at the 2015 festival and it will be broadcast Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. Pacific on Jazz Northwest  on 88.5 KPLU and streaming at KPLU.org.

All three musicians are active on the New York jazz scene and tour widely as leaders of their own groups as well as soloists and sidemen, but they don't ordinarily work together.  During the last week of July, 2015, they were members of the faculty of the Jazz Workshop which precedes Centrum's Jazz Port Townsend, and they formed this trio to play a single concert at the festival.  All three contributed original music for this unique one-time concert billed as Latitude Adjustment  which was recorded for this broadcast.

Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5 KPLU.  The program airs on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Pacific and frequently includes concerts recorded at festivals, concerts and jazz clubs around the Northwest. After broadcast, programs are available for streaming anytime at Jazz Northwest.
