Since 2005, KNKX's School of Jazz has provided mentorship, learning and performance opportunities to Western Washington middle school, high school and college jazz students. A cornerstone of the station's signature community outreach program, it has directly impacted thousands of jazz students, band directors and professional musicians. We had some wonderful guest student DJs from all over the region in 2018. For our first student DJ hour of 2019, which aired Jan. 3, Evening Jazz host Abe Beeson compiled 11 songs that appeared on student DJ playlists from last year.
