Join us for a unique live theater experience celebrating the stories of Jews of Color during Black History Month. “True Colors” is filled with humorous, revealing, and inspiring stories that explore identity, community, and what it means to be a Jew in modern times.
“True Colors” explores touching and unique stories about resilience, self-respect, and celebrating the diversity and many voices in a community. Ironically, while many American Jews reach consensus about commitments to social justice for others, they do not always embrace diversity in their own community. “True Colors” is an enlightening show exploring the impact of living as a Jew of Color when inclusion and equity are not always practiced.
Audiences will meet unforgettable characters who tell disparate and riveting personal stories about how they see themselves and how others see them. The daughter of a Jewish mother and a Black/Chinese father taught to embrace her diversity confidently so the world would embrace it as well; a woman torn between her Jewish heritage and her Latin one, struggling to find her place in either culture; an African American man whose Jewishness confuses himself and others; and many more.
The stories in “True Colors,” ostensibly about Jews who feel “different,” actually remind us how very much alike we are.
