In celebration the publication of the 3rd edition of Daniel Deardorff’s classic book, The Other Within: The Genius of Deformity in Myth, Culture and Psyche Last Word Books, 501 4th Ave E Olympia, WA will host a book signing with music event on Thursday, June 15th from 6-7:30pm. Judith-Kate Friedman, award-winning composer, vocalist, Steward of the Mythsinger Legacy Project, and Deardorff’s life partner from 2006 until his passing in 2019, will read from the book and sing original songs related to some of the book’s many themes including: otherness, belonging, severance from and honoring of the earth, re-connecting with the wild, and how myth can guide us to living whole-heartedly. Discussion and a book signing will follow.
