Pinocchio, pathological liar

It’s getting harder to keep a secret these days--between your ATM card, Facebook and the NSA snooping on emails and phone calls, our lives are pretty much on record in some form.  Of course people will continue to lie and try to keep secrets, but even the Secret Service couldn’t keep their Columbian Expedition under cover...

This song seems just right for the occasion, it’s Johnny Rivers from 1966:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9RMrva2nvQ

The most iconic song about secrets is probably The Beatles’ “Do You Want To Know a Secret?”. It’s not a secret that the late 60’s Beatles Cartoon Series was really bad, but it did feature the voice of Paul Frees, who also played Boris Badenov on The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show ! Here are the animated Beatles:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXM-je9mOmU

Even Doris Day as tough-gal Calamity Jane had a secret love:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL87sHjXlVU

And now on to lies! We can’t lie about the freaky go-go dancers in this 1965 film clip. We Like ‘Em! It’s The Knickerbockers and “Lies”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n03a7cLf0M

Another classic of prevarication, it’s “Liar, Liar” by The Castaways. Did we mention that we like go-go dancers?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAKRFZQIkeA

John has worked as a professional bassist for 20 years, including a 15 year stint as Musical Director of the Mountain Stage radio program. John has been at KNKX since 1999 where he hosts “All Blues”, is producer of the BirdNote radio program, and co-hosts “Record Bin Roulette”. John is also the recording engineer for KNKX “In-Studio Performances”. Not surprisingly, John's main musical interests are jazz and blues, and he is still performing around Seattle.
John Maynard started working in radio in the seventies as a DJ at Seattle’s KJR AM which at the time was the dominant AM station in the Seattle market. After a brief stint as a restaurateur and night club owner, Maynard returned to radio with Robin Erickson, creating the hugely popular “Robin and Maynard Show.” In the more than 20 years under that marquee, Maynard flew with the Blue Angels, piloted the Goodyear Blimp, sang with Donny Osmond and hung out in a Universal Studios bar with Kojak (Telly Savalas).
