Fun With Slime

In the 1990s and early 2000s, kids television channel Nickelodeon became popular for dumping bright green slime on everyone and anyone. Lizzie Neilson had the opportunity to get slimed as a kid and lived to tell the tale.

Everett mom Cheryl Pyles has always hoped she could communicate with her non-verbal and autistic son Jessie. She explains how she found a unique and messy way to give him a voice.   

Cleanup Crew

People have been illegally unloading garbage and junk in a ravine in Bremerton, Wash. since the 1940s. But a group of neighbors is finally getting the Gorst Creek dump cleaned up. Sound Effect contributor Anna Boiko-Weyrauch paid the dump a visit and brings us this story.

Family Secrets

Former KNKX Jazz Sunday Side Up host Ruby Brown knew for a long time that her brother Andy battled mental health issues. However, it wasn’t until last summer when he took his own life that she and her family was able to understand the extent of it. She talks about what it was like to uncover that her brother was a hoarder and what she learned from cleaning up his belongings.

A Musical Mess

Last April, the artistic director for the Seattle Men's and Women's Choruses, Paul Caldwell, was struck by a car, severely fracturing several bones in his body including his legs and right arm. His head landed on a bag filled with sheet music, rather than the hard street, saving his life. Caldwell shares how he recoveredafter his body and life were upended by this near-death experience.
