At The Throne

Four-year-old Donovan Lewis has been playing drums for his whole, short life. That's thanks to his dad, grandfather, and great grandfather — all successful drummers in their own right. The Lewis family looks backon how each generation has influenced the next to get behind a drum set. 

The Teacher Becomes The Student

When writer Brian McDonald was living in Seattle in the mid-90s, he had dreams of meeting and learning from the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and fellow Seattle resident August Wilson.  McDonald reflects on how a chance meetingoutside of a movie theater with Wilson ended up being more than he ever could have hoped for.

Recovery Mix Tape

Shannon Perry, front woman of the Seattle band Gazebos, went to rehab for Adderall addiction six years ago. While in rehab, she found that writing and singing songs helped her deal with coming out from under the influence of the drug. Perry shares her musicand explains how it aided her in that difficult time.

Tacoma luthier Tim Olsen learned how to make guitars from a very eccentric mentor, Harvey Thomas. The local entrepreneur was infamous for his crazy guitars in the shapes of crosses and axes. Over fifty years later, Olsen reflects on their odd relationship and what he learned about life from Thomas's wild antics.
