The spontaneity of jazz is best enjoyed in a live performance, and many great jazz records had their genesis in a jazz club or concert. Jazz Northwest frequently records live shows in clubs, concerts and festivals around the Pacific Northwest.   On this week's show, we'll revisit some of those recordings and debut a newly-issued one... Nancy Erickson singing with The 200 Trio and Alex Dugdale at The North City Bistro in Shoreline.  Also on the program are The Jay Thomas Quartet at Seattle Art Museum, Overton Berry & Bruce Phares at Tula's, Jacqueline Tabor at Seattle Jazz Vespers and The 200 Trio at Egan's Ballard Jam House.

Jazz Northwest is recording at Centrum's Jazz Port Townsend this weekend, and some of those concerts will be featured during the month of August starting next week, August 5. Jazz Port Townsend is Washington's oldest jazz festival.

Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke for 88.5 KNKX and knkx.org and airs Sundays at 2 PM Pacific. After broadcast, programs are archived for streaming anytime at jazznw.org.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
