LineUp And Julian Priester On Jazz Northwest

Jim Levitt

The Ballard Jazz Walk is a very popular part of the annual Ballard Jazz Festival.  This year, 22 bands played in 10 venues around Old Ballard.

LineUp, led by pianist Dawn Clement and saxophonist Mark Taylor had a special guest in trombonist Julian Priester, who played with Max Roach, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and many others before a long teaching career at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Michael Glynn on bass and D'Vonne Lewis complete LineUp, and they were recorded at the New York Fashion Academy in Ballard for this broadcast on Jazz Northwest, Sunday, June 19 at 2 p.m. Pacific on KNKX and streaming at KNKX.org.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014.
