Sometimes when I build a show, I don't have a specific theme in mind but one emerges. For this show I started with a couple of new releases, and it soon appeared this was a show about unusual arrangements of familiar music. If jazz is "the sound of surprise" as Whitney Balliet so aptly described it, you'll be surprised by some of these arrangements and unusual combinations. You'll hear Reuel Lubag Trio, The 200 Trio, Randy Porter and Nancy King, Syrinx Effect, Jeff Baker, Scenes, Bill Anschell, and the Full Circle Jazz Ensemble.
