Jazz Caliente: The Return Of Juan De Marcos And The Afro-Cuban All Stars

KCTS9
Juan de Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars, 2013 at KCTS9-TV

Juan de Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars return to Seattle on the night of Wednesday April 12 for a show at the Moore Theater.  We're delighted that they've also agreed to perform for a live studio session that afternoon, broadcast live at 12:15 p.m. on KNKX.

Juan de Marcos is marking 20 years since the amazing success of the Buena Vista Social Club recordings and the resulting world tour that made stars of "los viejos," the elder musicians who paved the way for modern Cuban music.

The Afro-Cuban All Stars have seen many changes since then, but they are still committed to spreading the joy of Cuban music.  That's what they do best.

A new CD/DVD release is forthcoming, available only at their live shows on this tour.  It's called "Absolutely Live II," and the recordings are from concerts in Guanajuato, Mexico and Bethesda, Maryland.

Listen for Juan de Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars this week on Jazz Caliente, and tune in for the studio session live from the Moore Theatre at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday April 12.

Until then, enjoy again their very first Studio Session for KNKX, from 2013, recorded at the studios of KCTS9 and hosted by Abe Beeson:
