Highlights From Gail Pettis Concert At Seattle Art Museum

Gail Pettis sang for an appreciative crowd at this month's popular "Art of Jazz" concert presented by Earshot Jazz at The Seattle Art Museum. An excellent trio including Darin Clendenin on piano, Chuck Deardorf, bass and Brad Boal on drums, backed Gail Pettis’ warm contralto. Ms.Pettis has won the Earshot vocalist of the year award twice and has performed in Europe, Russia and the Far East as well as the US.  She has recorded two CDs, both of which have received considerable national airplay.  In this concert she sang fresh arrangements of popular standards.

The Art of Jazz series is presented with no charge for admission on the second Thursday of each month. The series is organized and presented by Earshot Jazz, John Gilbreath, Executive Director.   The next concert in the series will feature the duo of Hans Tebuer, saxes & flute, and Jeff Johnson, bass on May 10 at 5:30 PM.

Coming on May 13, actors from the Seattle Shakespeare Company will be heard with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in Duke Ellington's "Such Sweet Thunder," musical portraits of characters from Shakespeare's plays.
