Hansen to fans: Line up for future Sonics tickets now

The Associated Press

Seattle doesn't yet have an NBA team, but investor Chris Hansen is already thinking about ticket sales.

Starting Thursday, hopeful Sonics fans can secure a spot on the priority waiting list for future game tickets, Hansen announced on his website. Fans can sign up at sonicsarena.com Thursday at 10 a.m. SST — “Sonics-saving time!” according to Hansen.

Hansen and his group of investors have yet to secure an NBA team for the city; NBA officials are still reviewing the group's offer to purchase the Sacramento Kings and relocate the team to Seattle. But Hansen says creating a list of future ticket holders is a step forward.

“In addition to helping us understand and prioritize the demand for tickets, registering your interest will be a critical step in demonstrating to the NBA and basketball fans around the country the unbelievable passion that exists in the Emerald City to BRING BACK OUR SONICS!” Hansen said on his website.

The group will first reach out to 2007-2008 season ticket holders before any new tickets are sold, Hansen said; a spot on the waiting list will not guarantee a chance to buy a ticket.
