Check It Out — Nancy Got Herself A Custom-Made Dining Table

When my Food for Thought pard Nancy Leson first met her husband-to-be, Mac, she helped him pick out a dining room table. If she had known that eventually she'd be moving in, she says, "I might have picked something different."

Mac agreed. As Nancy tells it, "for the last 15 years he's been wanting to get a table built by this guy named Cliff Adams."  They'd been admiring Adams' way with furniture at their neighborhood farmers market all that time.

When two Black Locust trees were felled nearby, Nancy and Mac saw their opportunity and took it. The handsome result is pictured above. The whole tale's in her Seattle Times story.

Now I've got table fever. Our old top isn't so wobbly that the cats won't jump onto to it. but they do look distinctly wary when they do. Maybe Nancy will sell us her old one. Cheap — right, Nance? Right?

"When I am at a dinner table, I love to ask everybody, 'How long do you think our species might last?'"
